The Red Hot Summer Tour is back! This year, the event will feature two special Queensland shows, one of which will be in Toowoomba’s Queens Park.
On May 7th, everyone is invited to celebrate the special anniversary of ICEHOUSE’s legendary hit Great Southern Land. The Great Southern Land was the lead single from ICEHOUSE’s multi-platinum second studio album, Primitive Man, released in August 1982. The song premiered on triple j and charted at #5 on the Australian Albums Chart (2JJJ as it was known then).
The Great Southern Land has been a part of practically every Australian’s summer soundtrack for the past 40 years. It was added to the Sounds of Australia registry of the National Film and Sound Archive in 2014. It’s also been remixed several times. The most notable is Bill Laswell’s The Great Southern Mix and the Byrralku Dhangudha remix from 1994, which involves Indigenous musicians playing and singing the chorus in their language.
Icehouse Great Southern Land 2022 – The Concert Series will include a star-studded lineup including James Reyne, The Angels, Baby Animals, Vanessa Amorosi, and Christine Anu.
